The next thing we’re going to do is show off the ability of the text widget to a be a real workhorse for adding content to your page. And we’re going to start that off by adding essentially contact information using a text widget.

Edit Existing Text Widget

We’ll come over here to Appearance and Widgets of course. And we’re going to look at this text widget here and instead of having all this Lorem Ipsum text, what I’m going to do is say Contact Us. And then I’ve got some contact information here.

What Automatically Add Paragraphs Does

Something I want to show you here is this automatically add paragraphs. I’m going to show you what it looks like both with and without doing that. Now there are plenty of times when you’re not going to want to automatically want to add paragraphs. But this is one where I think you will.

Let’s hit save here and come over and refresh our page. Notice how this contact information is just all strung together even though they’re on a separate line inside of that. That is because we didn’t check this box, automatically add paragraphs. Let’s hit save again and refresh this, now our contact us form has those things separated.

Moving the Location of the Text Widget

As it turns out, I don’t really want the contact form up there in the main sidebar. I really want it down here in the bottom right footer area. So I’m going to drag contact us down into here instead and refresh the page. And now there’s the actual heading. Clearly, my headings need to have a different color here in the footer area which is something that we’ll be doing next week. But nevertheless, we do have our widget sitting down here in the lower right hand corner now.
